Frequently asked questions

With online tickets, a period of 30 minutes is booked (timeslot). Within this period, access upon arrival in the visitor’s centre is automatically activated. After that, there is no further time control either at the cable car or at the entrance to the cave. Take as much time as you need!

If you are unable to arrive at the booked time, the ticket can be changed at the cash desk on site, but only if there are free spaces available at the desired time. Where there is evidence that a ticket cannot be used for an important reason, the ticket may also be cancelled and the purchase price refunded (please send us an email at: info@eisriesenwelt.at)

Please note that there is a 20 minute walk from the car park to the cable car and an additional 20 minute walk from the cable car station to the cave, as well as 1400 steps to climb in the cave. For little children in prams, attention should be paid to ensure that they are wearing appropriate clothing that will keep them sufficiently warm for over an hour at under 0 degrees!

Sturdy shoes, hats and, if possible, gloves make the trip more pleasant for children!

Good sports shoes or sturdy footwear should not be missing along with warm outer clothing. Particularly in warm outdoor temperatures, anoraks or jackets should only be put on at the cave entrance. Therefore, we recommend bringing a rucksack!

You should allow around 3 hours from arrival to your departure. Of course, visiting our restaurants also takes up additional time.

The fact that there is no electricity in the Eisriesenwelt is intentional in order to provide you with the most authentic cave adventure possible. Just like during the discovery of the cave system, you will be equipped with historically recreated lamps and can explore the cave on secure pathways on foot. The carbide lamps and the white light from the magnesium illumination used by the cave guides create a unique atmosphere and distinctive charm during your visit.
